CyberPatriot Scoring Engine is the built‑in assessment tool used in the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. Embedded within Windows and Linux virtual machine images, it continuously evaluates system configurations and security posture, awarding points for remediating vulnerabilities and deducting points for risky changes or downtime of required services. The engine provides real‑time score updates and an event log so teams can see the impact of their actions as they harden systems. In official rounds, it securely reports results to a central scoreboard; in practice images, it functions locally to support training. Designed for classroom and competition use, it focuses on common hardening tasks such as account and permission management, patching, service configuration, and basic security controls. Distribution is typically limited to official practice and competition images provided by the program.

CyberPatriot Scoring Engine is developed by TAMUCC Cyber Defense Team: Ibrahim Akdemir. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 2.1 and 3.0.
